Academic excellence.

Our students excel in all areas–arts, sciences, electives, athletics, civic engagement and more–and continue to outperform national averages. With the highest SAT scores in the area, and 100% of our graduates going on to college, Harley students are among the best of the best.

A challenging environment.

We offer a challenging environment and curriculum for the curious learner. Lessons are presented thematically, helping students understand all aspects and gaining new perspectives beyond the classroom.

Coed since day one.

For more than 100 years, we have been a coed school, helping students learn, grow, and develop into critical, independent thinkers who set out to discover and enjoy the world around them.

Students as individuals.

With a 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio, we are able to nurture and encourage our students as individuals, empowering them to reach their full potential. In our Upper School, no two schedules are alike, allowing students to truly customize their education and tailor their classes to their unique interests and needs.

Discovery as a way of life.

STEM is not just a trend or a building at Harley–it’s at the core of who we are and what we do. We teach students to question, to ponder, to test and apply. Our students think, question and learn, and we’ve been successfully encouraging that for more than 100 years. Our Commons building is just one of many places on our campus where students engage in experiential learning and STEM activities.

Participation is key.

At Harley, all students participate in a team sport. We create a safe place for students to try, fail, and try again both in the classroom and on the field, with a goal of teaching our students to live balanced, healthy lives.

A commitment to serving others.

Our students give their time to local food cupboards, retirement homes, and other organizations. In the Upper School, students take part in courses such as Rights and Responsibilities, Global Human Rights and Hospice.

A diverse community.

We are one community comprised of many. Our students come from a wide variety of races, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, and family units.

A focus on sustainability.

We believe in conserving energy, increasing efficiency and growing awareness. This approach spans our award-winning lunch program, new building initiatives, and The Commons–a “living building” dedicated to civic engagement, mindfulness, social and environmental sustainability, and STEM and maker space activities.

Experienced educators.

The average tenure of our faculty is 17 years, bringing together PhDs, subject matter experts, and experienced educators who have a passion for teaching.
