@Between Two Oaks: YouTube Fun with Class of 2026

Current seniors Liam Reader ’26 and Hatcher Morrow ’26 walked into Multimedia Journalism and they had an idea.

From their teacher, Gabe Rivas (Digital Media, 2023-present):

When these students enrolled in Multimedia Journalism, they had a specific vision: a video-based podcast that highlights Harley student life through a comedic lens. Inspired by series like Between Two Ferns and Hot Ones, they developed the personas of “Stick and Twig”—two squirrel characters (complete with full suits!) who interview faculty and staff.

The project aims to show the community a different side of our teachers, exploring their lives and interests outside the classroom through humor. Beyond the comedy, it’s a rigorous technical exercise; the students are mastering multi-cam editing, green screen keying, and audio engineering. Working alongside Charlie Clark ’27, they produce 30-minute sessions based on carefully vetted scripts, turning professional journalism skills into pure school spirit.

From Hatcher:

We are so appreciative of the opportunity given by Mr. Rivas to do this project. He gave us the freedom and trusted we would use our time outside of the curriculum in a productive manner (they were originally supposed to work on yearbook, but there were too many people). He said we would get a trial period and we’ve kept it up. It has been fun and successful!

A Love of Learning: Laurie Miller ’66

Staying Relevant: Paul Mokdessi ’77

When Paul Mokdessi ’77 thinks back on his time at Harley, what stands out isn’t just what he learned—it’s how he learned to think. Paul entered Harley in Grade 7 at just 11 years old, commuting each week from Warsaw, nearly 50 miles away. Mondays meant a drive to...
